Die processing refers to the processing of molding and billet tools, also including die cutting die and shear die. Usually the die consists of an upper die and a lower die, the material is formed under the action of a press, and the steel plate is placed between the upper die and the lower die. When the press is opened, the workpiece determined by the mold shape is obtained or the corresponding scrap is removed. Pieces as large as a car dashboard and as small as an electronic connector can be moulded. Progressive die refers to a set of molds that automatically move the finished workpiece from one station to another and obtain the finished part at the latter station. Die processing technology includes: four slider die, extrusion die, compound die, punching die, progressive die, stamping die, die cutting die, etc.

Basic characteristics of mold processing: 1, high processing precision. A pair of dies usually consists of a female die, a male die and a die frame, some of which can be multi-piece split modules. Therefore, the combination of upper and lower die, insert and cavity, and the combination between modules require high machining precision. 2. Complex shape and surface. Some products, such as automotive panels, aircraft parts, toys and household appliances, have formed surfaces made up of various curved surfaces, so the surface of the mold cavity is very complex. Some surfaces are treated mathematically. 3. Small batch. Die production is not mass production, in many cases only a pair of production. 4. A lot of process. Milling, boring, drilling, reaming and tapping are always used in die work. 5. Repeat production. Long service life of mold. When the service life of a pair of molds exceeds its life, a new mold needs to be replaced, so the production of molds is often repeated. 6, copying processing. Mold production sometimes neither drawings nor data, copy processing should be carried out according to the physical. This requires high precision imitation, no deformation.

Mold processing process: 1, bottom processing, processing quantity guarantee; 2. Base alignment of casting billet, check 2D allowance and 3D contour; 3, 2D and 3D contour roughing, non-installation and non-working surface processing; 4. Before semi-finishing, align the side datum surface to ensure accuracy; 5, semi-finishing 3D contour and 2D, semi-finishing all kinds of guide surface and guide hole, finishing all kinds of installation face, leaving a residual finishing process reference hole and height datum surface, record data; 6. Check and review the machining accuracy; 7. Check and recheck the machining accuracy.

After combined processing, the inserts that need to be processed separately should be installed in the combined processing as the benchmark requirements for independent processing; 6. The spring is easy to be damaged in the mold processing, so the mold spring with a long fatigue life should be selected.
